Adam: Thanks for helping to spread the word about my blog. I'm going to paraphrase since I just made a long post into the Waggleroom blog about this.

Just to clarify a few points:

1. I actually don't believe the physical game is more important than the mental game, but I can see how the look of the pyramid would give that impression. The structure is there more to direct the player to look at the areas that need more immediate focus when it comes to long term game improvement. My answer to: "What is more important in golf, the body or the mind?" is the same as my answer for "What is more critical to life, your heart or your lungs?" Both are critical, you cannot separate them, but when training you can zero in on weak links so that your strengths will shine through. Nothing in golf can be achieved without the mind, and at the same time your mind alone cannot make a golf ball move, it must be moved by the club which is of course controlled by the physical interaction between the player's body and the handle.

2. Golf fitness is much less about strength and much more about a combination of mobility and stability that will provide a 'readiness' to apply a technique. You don't need lots of flexibility or strength, just enough in key areas to allow for the right motor pattern to be ingrained. Strength alone as defined by traditional measures like a bench press or leg press will do very little for the golfer trying to improve, in fact it will often make them play worse. A player's golf fitness need only be 'good enough' to be able to focus in on their technique. Most players are practicing concepts that they cannot possibly master until they clear some physical limitations that are hindering their progress.

Thanks again for commenting on my post, feel free to email me to discuss this in more detail.
