As many of our regular readers know, we at ChicagoDuffer.com like to provide a unique insight into the lives of some of golf’s biggest personalities via a segment titled “5 Questions With…”. 5 Questions With… PGA TOUR’s Mark Wilson

It has been awhile since I’ve had the opportunity to interview a personality from the world of golf, especially from the PGA TOUR. Luckily, fellow Chicagoan Mark Wilson was willing to take part in our “5 Questions With…” segment recently and provided some great answers to our usual set of questions.

Just as a reminder, all interviewees are asked the same five simple, general questions related to the game of golf with the goal of providing a unique look into their lives. Past guests on the segment have included ESPN’s Jason Sobel, the PGA TOUR’s John Daly, and ESPN’s Paul Azinger. Read on to learn more about the PGA TOUR’s Mark Wilson. Read more of this post

INTERVIEW: European Senior Tour’s John Hoskison

When I’m not toiling to throw together a blog post on CD.com or WaggleRoom, I usually spend a little time freelance writing over at Suite101.com on a variety of different subjects.  Along the way I have “met” a few interesting writers at the studio, including John Hoskison - who just so happens to be a professional TOUR golfer.

Recently, I had the chance to speak to John on his experience with playing on the European Senior PGA TOUR (which he is still an active participant), writing on golf, and his opinion on today’s game and talent pool.  Click the link below to view a few excerpts from my correspondence with John Hoskison. Azinger: OWGR is “So Subjective”

The Official World Golf Rankings have constantly been a topic of coversation that sparks both agreement and arguments among many golf writers and fans alike, primarily due to its seemingly subjective nature and unclear points system. Players who have won multiple times on TOUR appear lower on the rankings than players with fewer wins as an example. While the current #1 on the OWGR – Luke Donald – is certainly playing the most consistently as of late in 2011, should the golf rankings take into account a player’s full career body of work? Is the current system process the appropriate one to determine who is the best player in the world at any given moment? Read more of this post

INTERVIEW: Author Robert Runk (aka Bobby Rusher)

(The following is background information referenced on Mr. Runk’s website, www.4putt.com.)

“A graduate of Wesleyan University, Bobby Rusher (aka, Robert Runk) took up the game of golf in order that he might comprehend what people were saying when they discussed “golf.” His first book, HOW TO LINE UP YOUR FOURTH PUTT, was inspired by the many catastrophic events he and his opponents subsequently experienced, both on and off the golf course.”

Mr. Runk got in touch with me via email a couple of weeks ago to inform me of his work, How to Line Up Your Fourth Putt and When to Regrip Your Ball Retriever, and to see if I would be interested in reviewing both books.  Not having heard of either title before (which isn’t saying much since I tend to live in a cave), I was very interested in anything that was going to a) make me laugh, and b) provide a unique spin on the game we all love.  Luckily Runk was able to achieve both with flying colors.  (Read CD.com’s review of both books here.)

I was able to reach out to Robert via email a few times over the past week for the purpose of conducting an email-based interview.  The following are my questions and his responses after the jump.  Enjoy! Read more of this post
