YouTube Review: The proper golf grip

We’ve heard it a million times before. The key to a solid golf swing begins with having a fundamentally correct grip. But what does this concept actually mean, and furthermore, what does the proper grip feel like?

I’ve played golf for almost 18 years now and have used the same grip throughout: the interlocking grip. Other players may prefer the overlap grip or even the dreaded “baseball grip”, but I’ve always been partial to interlocking my right pinkie finger with my left index finger. Hey, if it’s good enough for Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods, it’s good enough for me.

Today’s YouTube review video features golf instructor John Lubin. In it, Lubin does a good job of describing how you should hold the club in relation to anatomical checkpoints on your hand. It is a video that helped me refocus on a very important fundamental in my golf game, and hopefully it can do the same for you.
