My (Golf) Christmas List this Holiday Season

As one of my favorite holidays is quickly approaching this Sunday, I figured now was as good a time as any to list out a few “items” I am asking Jolly Ol’ Saint Nick for this Christmas. While most of these items won’t be found under my Christmas tree, nor will they fit down a chimney on the 25th, I am sure a man like Santa Claus can figure out how to deliver the goods.

So, without much further ado, here is my Christmas Wish List for the 2012 golf season:

  • Luke Donald to win a major - There couldn’t possibly be anything I want more for next season than for Luke Donald to finally capture a Green Jacket. Or a Claret Jug. Hell, I would even settle for a Wannemaker Trophy. Donald’s 2011 season was one for the ages, but despite his winning the Player of the Year award and capturing both the European Tour and PGA TOUR money lists… I was still left with an empty feeling in my golf fandom. Luke wants a major. He needsone. But most importantly, he deserves one. Make it happen, Santa.
  • A new Rocketballz driver - Have you seen this thing? Holy shit. Forget about the stupid name attached to the club; this driver is the real deal. You know what happens when you hit a tee-shot with TaylorMade’s newest product? Your life improves just a bit. I’m also pretty sure an angel gets its wings, too. Extremely impressive.
  • Yani Tseng gets the front cover of Golf Magazine - Is this too much to ask? Is our society really this stubborn to not give the best golfer on the damn planet some notoriety on a national publication? You know what; how about give her the cover for each month in 2012 to commemorate her 12 victories in 2011? Fair is fair.
  • Tiger Woods to talk more on Twitter - Come on, Tiger. We’re not asking for you to throw a block party or anything. We just want to hear more from you as opposed to other golf writers who think they know you. Twitter has proven to be the easiest way to communicate with fans without any filter. Screw it, let us know how you feel. Do you even have feelings? Speak up.
  • Chubby Chandler takes on an American golfer client- Oh, wouldn’t that be something? The guy is obviously the hottest sports agent in golf right now, and his client list are some of the hottest players in the game. This cannot possibly be a coincidence. I’m sure Chubby would need to bend a bit on his laurels and availability to take on an American golfer, but can you honestly tell me that someone like Tommy Gainey hasn’t thought about hiring him? Hell, it couldn’t hurt ol’ Two-Gloves.
  • United States to win the Ryder Cup - No explanation needed. I’m going to the event, I want to see results. Medinah Country Club is in the best shape of its life and American golf is finally showing some promise. Get it done, Santa. Although, seeing Jose Maria Olazabal running around and screaming with a bottle of champagne could be pretty funny…
